چکیده
The effect of pressure, solids concentration and volume slurry on total two-phase filtrate volumes was investigated to establish optimum conditions for routine laboratory filtration. Full factorial design with three levels utilized obtain 27 unique experiments. used prepared by mixing crushed sieved bentonite clay 75 microns distilled water at different concentrations as obtained from the experiment. A filter press results were calibrate a exponential equation sludge filtration extract first second stage volumes. improved increasing applied pressure decreasing concentration. 0.22 litres found be ideal. Similar effects noticed except that an discovered 0.18 slurry. produced upward curve point inflection range is also directly proportional volume. This connection may considered use assess filterability other slurries.

The Effect of Sulfate Concentration on COD Removal and Sludge Granulation in UASB Reactors
Four identical 37.5 Liter UASB reactors R1, R2, R3 and R4 were used to study the effect of sulfate concentration on granule formation. Diluted molasses with COD range 1000–1300 mg/l were used as feed and acclimated cow manure was used as seed. Concentration of sulfate ions in the four reactors were 100, 500, 1000 and 1500mg/l. Granules were observed in R2 after 33 days from startup time, while ...
متن کاملImpact of secondary treatment types and sludge handling processes on estrogen concentration in wastewater sludge.
Endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs), such as estrogen, are known to be present in the aquatic environment at concentrations that negatively affect fish and other wildlife. Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are major contributors of EDCs into the environment. EDCs are released via effluent discharge and land application of biosolids. Estrogen removal in WWTPs has been studied in the aqueous ...
متن کاملEffect of Concentration of Cations on Activated Sludge Properties and Membrane Fouling in Membrane Bioreactors for Wastewater Treatment
This paper presents the results of an investigation on the effects of concentration of cations on activated sludge properties and membrane fouling in submerge membrane bioreactors. The working volume of the experimental setup was two liters. The cellulose acetate membrane was immersed in the bioreactor. The flocculability, settling properties and fouling propensity of activated sludge was measu...
متن کاملEffect of Clay Minerals on Extractability of Heavy Metals and Sewage Sludge Mineralization in Soil
An incubation experiment lasting 111 d was carried out to study the effect of the addition of three clay minerals (Nabentonite, Ca-bentonite, and zeolite) to soil derived from sewage sludge on water-extractable and exchangeable forms of four heavy metals (Zn, Cd, Cu, and Ni), as well as on soil organic matter mineralization, microbial biomass C and the release of inorganic N. The addition of cl...
متن کاملRemoval of H2S and Mercaptan from Outlet Gases of Kermanshah Refinery Using Modified Adsorbents (Bentonite and Sludge)
In this work, adsorbents, namely bentonite and sludge, modified by iron and copper were used to remove the H2S and mercaptan from Kermanshah refinery. The used adsorbents are inexpensive materials, which substantially decrease the operational costs. The structure of the adsorbents was analyzed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Th...
